All Cuddled Up For An Afternoon Nap

Yesterday when I got home from work I was exhausted. Kiely and I went out to the post office to get the mail or since there was no mail, we went for a ride. Kiely loves to go to the post office. All I have to say is "Let's go get Kiely's mail" and she jumps up and down. When we got home from the post office we went for a short walk in the bitter freezing wind.

When we both had enough we decided to go in and get warm. I made some coffee for myself and got her some treats. Then since we were both tired I asked her if she wanted to take a nap with me. All I have to say is "Do you want to take a nap with me on Mommy's bed" and she runs in the bedroom and jumps on the bed. Then we have this routine where I fluff the pillows and cover her up with her favorite blanket. (I know it is a little much.. but she is my sweet angel)

Finally it was time for me to cuddle up under the warm blankets. Kiely snuggled up next to me with her little nose under my hand. She loves to be pet right before she falls asleep. Next thing I knew she was snoring away. At this point I must have fell asleep.

When I woke up I realized we had been asleep for almost two hours. I rushed around to tidy the house a bit and get organized for supper. All I kept thinking about was how nice it was to cuddle, all nice and warm for an afternoon nap.

Ball Games, Walks and Cuddles

Yesterday, I did not have to work. I started my day with a long walk with Kiely. We saw 2 squirrels, 3 crows and 2 bluejays. Kiely was too busy sniffing to even notice. Next Kiely and I had a game of fetch with her favorite ball. We played that for about 30 minutes and decided to go inside for a cold drink. Kiely curled up on her favorite blanket and went to sleep.

The telephone rang and my neighbor invited me for coffee. Well of course Kiely was upset that I was leaving. As I got in the car I heard her barking. I felt awful leaving her.

I got to my neighbor's home and Buck met me for another game of ball. We played for about 10 minutes and I went inside. Smoky met me at the door and wanted me to pick him up. He is such a cuddly kitten. I held him and stroked under his chin. He fell asleep and I held him while I drank coffee. Then it was time to go. I put Smoky on his favorite blanket, gave him a little kiss and went out.

Buck met me at the door for another 10 minute game of ball. I hugged him and gave him a kiss goodbye. It was time for me to go home to Kiely.

Kiely met me at the door full of kisses. I hugged and kissed her. Next she grabbed her ball and we went out for another 20 minute game of ball. Then we went for a short 10 minute walk. This time we saw another squirrel and 1 blue jay. Kiely once again did not even notice. When we finished we went inside for another cold drink.

I decided I was exhausted and decided to lay down. Kiely curled up beside me on the bed. She put her little head on my hand as I pet her. Both of us fell sound asleep.

All in all it was a beautiful blessed day! I loved every minute of being with my animal friends. May God bless all animals with joy, companionship and most of all His Protective Hand of Love.

Pray for Wickett

Wickett is a neightbor's 14 year old yellow lab. He is certainly not wicked but the most loving gentle dog. He is having trouble with his hind legs. It is getting really difficult for him to get up and down. His spirit is strong and lovable. I feel deeply connected to him.

I invite you to pray, bless or send Wickett some extra love. Every day I take a few minutes and bless all animals. I continue to bless animals throughout the day as I meet up with them on my daily path and routine. Animals have blessed my life and taught me how to open up my heart to love, release judgment and to be grateful for all the little blessings in my life.

May God hold each animal in His Protective Hand and close to His heart. May each of us humans learn about the beauty in each life through animals and God's love.

My Little Riding Companion

My daughter has been home for the weekend from school. On Friday I picked her up and this morning I brought her back to school. During both trips my little riding companion, Kiely came for the trip. She was really good for most of the trip except for the toll booths. Kiely decided to let her voice ROAR! She barked up a storm! It took her a while before she calmed down and just looked out the window.

Overall, I think Kiely did exceptionally well. She was a joy to have with me and great company. Kiely is such a comfort to me especially when the empty nest ghost decides to appear and bring down my mood. I enjoy her kisses, cuddles at night and don't even mind her voice roaring.

God bless all our animals that comfort us, give us companionship and lots of kisses.

A New Friend, Tippy

Yesterday I met a little 2 year old Schitzu (don't know how to spell it), named Tippy. I went to visit my friend and little Tippy climbed up next to me on the couch. Tippy is gray and white with black streaks of fur. His paws are white and undercoating (under his chin and stomach) are also white. He has soft gray eyes and when he looks at you it is almost like he smiles. If he lived in my house I could not resist those eyes and he would have anything he wanted. Of course my friend and her husband also cannot resist those eyes and Tippy is the center of the household.

At first Tippy was a bit bashful. I just kept talking soft to him and assuring him it was okay. I stroked his fur under his chin and on his stomach. He just sat there and kissed me. My friend said she had never seen him so calm. I enjoyed every minute of being with Tippy. When it was time for me to leave Tippy jumped up and wanted me to hold him. I hated to leave but now I have another friend to visit. What a joyous time I had and what a precious blessing to have met Tippy!

God bless Tippy and all our precious animals that make us smile, laugh and fill our hearts with overflowing joy!

There was 3 in the Bed and the Little One Snored

Kiely often sleeps between my husband and me, especially when the weather starts to get cold. She likes to cuddle and lay her head against one of us. Sometimes she likes to take up the whole bed. She will stretch out and in the morning my husband will have one leg hanging off the bed.

Last night I could not fall asleep. Usually my husband keeps me awake snoring, moving around trying to get comfortable. Last night Kiely moved around trying to get comfortable. When she finally found a comfortable spot and my eyes were just about to close, it started. First I thought is was my husband snoring but it was Kiely as loud as ever. She could have been a good fog horn!

I don't know what time I finally fell asleep. This morning I woke up to Kiely snuggling up with her little nose practically under my arm. How could I get upset with such an adorable blessing!

May God bless all animals that like to cuddle with us. They are such blessings of comfort!

Big Ben

Today I got to meet a new friend. His name is Ben. I call him Big Ben. He is a gorgeous Siberian Husky. We met at the shopping plaza near my home. I asked if I could pet him and his owner was thrilled. I reached down and gave him some warm petting and a big hug. Then Big Ben jumped up and gave me a hug with his paws around my shoulers, and smothered me with kisses.
What a blessing and what a beautiful dog!

After getting such a warm welcome from Big Ben my mood changed from moderately happy to bubbling over with joy. Animals give us so very many blessings.

God bless Big Ben and may I see him again really soon. God bless all animals that reach the depths of our hearts, filling our souls with warmth and unconditional love.

Those Big Brown Beautiful Eyes

What can I say I just can't resist those big brown eyes that capture the depth of my heart! Kiely can steal my slippers, sneakers, tear up paper and you name it, but when she looks at me with those big brown beautiful eyes I just melt! I have always been a dog owner that tries to overlook the not so good stuff and praise, praise, praise the good behavior. I don't even like to raise my voice at her. When I notice she is about to get into some mischievous action I redirect her to a more positive behavior. Many times she gets ahead of me, usually when I am not giving her my direct attention and she gets a hold of a piece of paper she can tear up or something. This is when I need to choose what battles to encounter with her. I concentrate on safety and health. If something is going to harm her in any way I need to immediately intervene and take away anything that could be a danger. I let her take my slippers (she doesn't chew them). She takes them and lays down on the floor with her little nose on top of the slipper. Then she waits to see what my reaction will be. If I decide not to pay attention she very quickly looses interest.

Kiely is with out a doubt such a joy and a blessing. She keeps me laughing and is always there for a hug and a cuddle. Her little kisses greet me when I come home. But those big beautiful brown eyes are quite a charm. How could I get angry at those beautiful brown eyes? I may not be the best dog trainer but I love her so very much.

God bless those big, beautiful, brown eyes that make my heart melt. God bless all animals that melt our hearts and bring laughter and joy to our souls.

The Case of the Missing Slipper

I have always been one to come home from work, take off my shoes and jump into the comfort of my slippers. I could live in my slippers. Well Kiely has a habit of taking shoes, socks, other clothing and yes my slippers.

Usually, I find my missing items right away. Kiely just takes them so that we will chase her. She puts them down when we decide we don't want to play. Kiely often takes items when she knows we have to leave for work. She doesn't want us to leave and she figures if she takes something we will stay and play with her.

I had both of my slippers yesterday morning before I got in the shower. When I got out of the shower one of them was missing. My husband and I searched the entire house including the dirty laundry hamper. We looked in every place Kiely calls her own. We searched under the couch, under the bed, under tables and chairs and in every corner. Still, the slipper remains missing. Since the slipper was not thrown out and is not in the dirty clothes hamper, it has got to be somewhere inside of this house. It probably is in a place right in front of our middle aged eyes.

Well, the best thing I can do is let the situation go. I know I will find the slipper when I am not looking for it. But boy do I miss my slipper! God bless slippers and God bless all of our precious animals that take our lives on such interesting adventures.

Smoky, Buck's New Roommate

I had the pleasure of meeting little Smoky, an eight week old all gray kitten. He is Buck's new roommate. He is a little bundle of gray puff with little gray eyes. He is just adorable! He snuggled up with me when I held him and then he gave me some kisses. What a blessing! Of course I got to also visit with Buck. I brought him a new toy. We played for quite a while.

It is amazing how two animals dog and cat get along so well. What a lesson us humans can learn!
Animals have taught me many wonderful lessons. Most of all they taught me how precious unconditional love is. I feel so close to God whenever I am around an animal. Animals remind me that my life is full of abundant blessings every day.

God bless Smoky, Buck and all animals that brighten our days and warm our hearts.

Buck's Healthy Tip

The other day I went up to my neighbor's home. Buck met me and was running around looking for a toy to play with. He loves to play fetch with any toy he can find. He could not find his toy so he decided to go to the garden and grab a cucumber. He dropped the cucumber for me to throw it. I threw it and he grabbed it. He ate half of it and dropped the othe half for me to throw. I threw it and he grabbed it and gobbled it up. I laughed and gave him a big hug. He always makes me smile. God bless Buck and God bless all animals.

Buck's healthy tip:

Another Visit with Oliver and Costello

Today I went over to my daughter's friend Shiloh's home to visit with her mother. I got the triple blessing of visiting with Oliver and Costello. Costello greeted me first and cuddled up next to me, wanting me to pet him. Next came Oliver. He snuggled up next to me and wanted some petting as well. I love to hear his purr. Next Oliver climbed up on the chair next to me and wanted more petting. Each time I stopped he would put his little paw on my leg for me to continue petting him. I was so very blessed. You can't help fall in love with such beautiful cats! Costello greeted Shiloh's father as he came in from work. They both took a seat in the living room and held eachother. As I was leaving I looked over and both Costello and Shiloh's father had dozed off to sleep. What a precious site!

Animals bless our lives in so many ways. Shiloh, like my daughter is now in college living in the dorm. Like my dog, Kiely, Oliver and Costello help give unconditional love to us old folk parents missing our daughters in college. God bless our daughters and God bless our animals. They help keep smiles on our faces and love in our hearts.

Kiely, My bestest friend

My dog Kiely is such a joy. I call her my bestest friend. She is a great comfort and bundle of joy. She is currently helping me with the fact that my daughter has moved into the dorm at college. Since my daughter is my only child, I am having a little trouble with the empty nest syndrone of being a mother. Kiely is right there for me. She follows me around the house, wagging her tale and stealing my sneakers to capture my attention. Kiely grabs her ball at various times of the day and wants to play. Whenever I have to leave the house to go to work or somewhere she grabs a pillow off the bed so I will chase her. Her little nose waits at the living room window, pressed against the glass. When I open the door she runs to my arms and smothers me with happy kissses. No matter what kind of mood I find myself in, she uplifts my mood with her unconditional love. How can I be sad? Kiely fills my life with laughter and joy!

Dear God,

Bless all animals that brighten the days of humans, warming our hearts and filling our souls with overflowing joy. May we all remember to say thank you to our angel animals that put a smile on our faces and fill our hearts with unconditonal love.

Misty

When my daughter was just a toddler we moved to a new neighborhood and met our neighbors across the street. We quickly became friends. They had a little girl the same age as my daughter and we had a lot in common. At this time I met their dog, Misty.

Misty always had a loud bark, enough to scare the mailman and any intruder that came into the yard. As part of the golden retriever family she had a lot of unconditional love to give and always put a smile on my face. We had the blessing of taking care of her when my neighbors went away. Misty loved children and my daughter quickly became quite atttached to her.

Many times in the spring I would sit out in the yard while the girls played. Misty would always sleep at my feet in the warm sun, laying on the cool grass. My friend Cynthia would often take videos of the girls playing. Misty was always there with them. Often times Misty would play the role of a favorite character in the girls imaginative playtime. Although Misty had no idea how to play the character, she loved just being with the girls and was happy to play her part in their joy.

Misty has since gone onto the rainbow of pet heaven. She gave us many blessings and we are so thankful we got to be a part of her presence. The smiles she gave us will always have a place in our hearts and her unconditional love will be a part of us forever.

Our Little Visitor, Gus

For the last couple of weeks we have had a new visitor in our backyard. I am not sure what kind of animal it is. It reminds me of a gopher in the movie Caddyshack. My husband seems to think it is a little ground hog. Whatever kind of animal it is, he is adorable. He ususally comes in the early morning or late afternoon. He munches on grass and leaves. He stands up on his hind legs with a leaf in his mouth as proud as ever.

I named him, Gus. Of course I don't know if he is female or male. He just makes me think he is a proud male. He is such a blessing to watch. No matter what kind of a mood I am in, he calms me down and puts a smile on my face.

Sometimes all we need to do is open our hearts to all the beauty in nature. Maine is a beautiful state full of different wild animals. I thank God for these beautiful animals. They make me stop and take a break from the chaos of my day. They help me to refocus myself and put a smile on my face.

May God bless all animals and hold them in the palm of His hand. May the angels of God surround them and give them God's peace.

Oliver and Costello

For the last week I have been blessed with taking care of 2 precious cats for my daughter's friend's family, while they were away. They both were adopted from an animal shelter. Their owners give them a lot of love and affection.

I have never owned any cats and I am so very blessed to have had this experience. Each morning Costello and Oliver greet me and wait patiently for their food. I give them fresh food and water, clean their litter box and then it is time to play. We play with their toys for a little bit and then it is cuddle time. I sit on the floor and both cats snuggle up to me, purring and wagging their tails. They roll onto their sides and backs and want me to rub their stomachs. Of course I tell them how much of a blessing they are to me. I tell them I love them as I gently pet their fur.

Sometimes in the morning I have a tendency to get a little anxious. I have suffered from anxiety and bouts of depression in different times of my life. It is amazing how much a cat's purring can fill you with serenity. When I leave them and go home I am filled with peace and joy. I am so thankful for the blessings they have given me.

Today was my last day taking care of them because my daughter's family is coming home. Although I will miss them I will always remember their sweet purring and the affection they gave me.

May God bless all animals and the precious blessings they give to the human heart and soul.
God bless Oliver and Costello, my two precious cat friends.

Healing Walks with Kiely

During the winter I encountered a bout of depression. I felt isolated from my family back in Massachusetts. The winter was long and it snowed from November through March here in Maine. I felt at times like we lived in an igloo.

One thing that got me through some of the loneliest, darkest moments was my companionship and daily walks with my little dog, Kiely. Each day we would walk down the little dirt road where we live and she would make me smile with her curious little nose sniffing out various adventures. Kiely knew just what I needed, fresh air and a smile on my face.

Animals can be a great help during lonely times and depression. They cuddle up to you and make you feel that you are loved. An animal's love is unconditional and can help you remember that God is with you. God's love is unconditional. Kiely is like my angel from heaven. Our walks together helped me to heal from depression.

God bless all animals and their owners. May God heal everyone suffering all over the world from physical and emotional illness. May each of us hold God's hope in our hearts and have the blessing of holding an animal in our arms.

Cheyenne Elisabeth

My daughter and I first met Cheyenne when she was a little puppy and my daughter was 10. At first sight we fell in love with her. I nicknamed her Cheyenne Elisabeth because she thought she was a queen and loved to be the center of attention.

My daughter and I had the oppurtunity to take care of her on weekends for one month. She would cuddle up with both my daughter and me. We loved every minute of being with Cheyenne. One particular night there was a knock at the door at 1:00 am. I went downstairs and saw that my neighbor had her door open ( we lived in an apartment complex at the time) and was talking to a man. I opened my door and the man asked for someone of whom I did not know. Then the man started to walk towards my door as if he was planning to come in. All of a sudden Cheyenne came charging down the stairs and barked like crazy. The man backed off and took off quickly. I was very thankful for Cheyenne being with me.

We have not had the opportunity to see Cheyenne in a number of years. I often think about her and that one night. I was so very thankful to have her with me. Cheyenne will always be in my prayers and a very special place in my heart will always be open for Cheyenne. I send her heartfelt blessings of God's love, protection and peace. May God bless all animals, especially the ones that work so hard to keep us protected.

Prayer for the Deer

Dear Lord,

I place in your precious hands the deer population in Maine, 2008. I call upon your angels, St. Francis of Assisi and all of heaven to add their prayers and blessings.

With the snow fall one third of the deer population is predicted to be lost because they are not able to get to food

Lord, You can change things in the twinkling of an eye. I give you my heartfelt blessings and prayers for each and every deer and all animals, especially in the state of Maine, USA. There is also an outbreak of rabies. Lord, again, You can change things in the twinkling of an eye. I send forth heartfelt blessings of healing, peace, divine love and protection for each animal, especially those struggling to survive.
I pray for all abandoned animals that need a loving home. May an angel guide them to safety. May each animal be comforted and wrapped in a blanket of your love, Dear Lord.

In God's blessings of love, protection, healing and peace,
KM

Bandit, A Loving Spirit of Warmth

I first met Bandit in 1991 before my sister got married. Bandit used to open my pocketbook and empty the contents and then cliimb in the pocketbook. In 1994 my sister was pregnant with my nephew. The day before and the day she went into labor, Bandit stayed with my sister, sleeping on her stomach and lying at her feet. It was almost like he knew she was going into labor.

Bandit was a ball of cuddly fur. He would rub against you once he got used to you visiting. He made friends with my sister's second cat, Ozzie. He gave so many wonderful blessings of love, warmth and joy.

Bandit became ill at his old age of 14. He passed on to heaven and continues to share his loving spirit with my sister's family and also to me. God bless Bandit and all animals that give their loyalty and unconditional love to the human heart and soul.

In God's blessings of love, light and peace,

Wolfie, A Gentle Loving Spirit

I first met Wolfie, a gorgeous German Shepherd when my daughter was in second grade. Wolfie had been trained as an animal companion service animal. He was so gentle you could practically put your entire head in his mouth with no problem. Of course no one put their head in his mouth.

Two particular incidents reveal the loving gentle spirit that was Wolfie. One time my daughter and I had stayed over night at my friend Mary's home, Mary was the owner of Wolfie. My daughter became sick with a high fever. We tucked my daughter in bed with some medicine. Wolfie climbed on to the bottom of the bed and stayed with her. I checked on her several times during the night. Wolfie was still with her.

Then I went downstairs and tried to get some sleep. I woke up to Wolfie kissing my face. Immediately, I went upstairs to check on my daughter. Her fever had finally broken. It was almost like Wolfie wanted me to know that her fever had broken and she was doing better. I was very thankful.

Another time I was working in the apartment complex office where both Mary and I lived. I was really stressed out and trying to hold back tears. Mary came in with Wolfie to handle some paperwork. Wolfie came up to see me and laid down at my feet in front of my desk. He would not budge. It was almost like he knew how upset I was. Finally, I got up and began to hug him and I told him everything was ok. He then got up and left with Mary. That day he blessed me with a little bit of joy and gave me strength to get through the day.

Wolfie was truly a blessing from God. He went home to heaven and I know his gentle loving spirit will be with us forever. We will meet him once again at the gates of heaven.

God bless Wolfie and all animals that bless our lives so richly, warming our hearts and souls.

My Friend Buck

I first met Buck when I moved to Maine in 2003. He is my neighbor's Austrian Shepherd. I have to admit I was a little leary of him at first. He is quite the protector.

Buck visits our elderly neighbor across the street from his house daily. Since the elderly man is now 96, he needs a little extra help. I go up to visit almost daily. Buck is always there to greet me. He gives me kisses and I give him hugs. Then I give him some dog treats.

Buck keeps my elderly neighbor company during the day until his owners come home from school and work. My elderly neighbor looks forward to seeing him daily and often will fix him up some hamburg. Buck greets all the visitors with plenty of kisses. Of course no one can resist giving him treats.

Buck is such a loyal companion and friend to myself and especially to my elderly neighbor. All of us need companionship and love. Buck gives so much every day. He is truly a blessing from God.

I am so very thankful to have a sweet friend like Buck. May God bless him and all the animals that touch our hearts and souls with so much beauty.

Hugs For Sam

About one year ago when my husband and I took my little Kiely to the groomers for her monthly makeover, I met another dog that really blessed me. His name was Sam, short for Samuel Adams. That particular morning I was quite stressed. My husband and I had an argument and I was feeling quite annoyed, stressed and somewhat sad. When we got to the groomers my husband took Kiely inside. I waited in the waiting area. There was a beautiful golden retriever named Sam crying and barking. The owner of the business explained to me that Sam was very frightened. He had been abandoned during Hurricane Katrina and had just been with his new owner for less than one month. The owner of the business asked me if I would mind comforting Sam. I went inside and started petting Sam. Each time I stopped for a little break he would wimper and bark. I finally sat on the floor and Sam cuddled up next to me and fell asleep. I hugged him gently and spoke softly to him that everything would be alright.

Ironically, I was supposed to comfort Sam but Sam comforted me. I was no longer stressed or annoyed at my husband. Instead of feeling sad I was feeling happy. Sam had truly blessed my day. When it was time to leave it was Sam's turn to be groomed. I hugged him and gave him a little kiss goodbye with a blessing of love, joy and well being. I hated to leave him but I knew he would be ok. Sam was truly my gift of peace that one stressful morning.

With blessings for Sam and all of God's animals,
In God's love,

My Little Nose

When I first moved to Maine, USA from Massachusetts in 2003, I was extremly homesick and lonely. We decided to get a dog. I read in the local newsletter about free puppies looking for loving homes. I called the number and my husband and I went to the home to see the puppies. The first puppy that came up to my husband and I was the littlest one in the litter. She came over and kissed the hands of my husband and me. Immediately, my husband and I agreed that she would be the one we would pick to be a part of our family. We needed to wait until she was 8 weeks old to take her home.

When we took her home we named her Kiely. She cuddled up to us and would fall asleep on our laps. Later she found her way to sleeping in our bed in between my husband and me. Kiely is our absolute joy. I call her my little nose because whenever I need to go out she is waiting for me with her little nose pressed against the front window of the house.

For many years I have suffered with anxiety and bouts of depression. Kiely always knows exactly what I need. She stays with me and keeps me company and loves to go for rides in the car. She loves taking walks with us. Many times she steals the clean laundry or one of the pillows and wants us to chase her around the house. One day I was having a stressful morning and she got into the clean laundry. She came up to me with a pair of my clean underwear in her mouth. I stopped and burst into laughter. I got the underwear away from her and we went out for a walk. The rest of the day was brighter and full of joy.

Animals are such a blessing from God. Kiely has blessed our lives with overflowing joy, love and laughter. She is truly a precous gift from God. My little nose is my loyal and faithful friend and one of my best companions. I thank God with all of my heart for such a loving gift.

May God bless all animals with love and protection. May they all be surrounded with God's angels and saints. May we take a few moments every day to tell our animals how much they mean to us and how much we truly love them. Animals need to be thanked and told they are loved too. God bless all animals.
