A Dove On My Shoulder

This morning I was cuddling with my dog.  I began to meditate on the Reiki Precepts.  The precept" Be Compassionate" came into my thoughts.  I believe that compassion is being gentle and kind to myself and all living things. Thoughts of Saint Francis of Assisi came to mind.  Images of St. Francis show birds flocking to him and animals all around him. 

I thought how could I ever get a bird to land on my shoulder?  First I would have to release all negative feelings such as anger or worry.  I would have to be humble and open to the bird landing on my shoulder.  The real, true, authentic me would have to shine forth.  Most of all I would have to welcome the bird with gentleness and kindness; letting go of all control or expectations.  

I returned to meditating on the Reiki precepts.  This time I let go of all control and expectations.  I let go of all the how's of any reiki techniques. I just breathed into this moment and let the love flow.  The more I let go, the more I was able to open myself to God's peace and love.  With each breath my dog began to move closer and closer until she was just about on top of me.  I thought this is true reiki! In this space is where a dove would land on my shoulder.  In this space is true grace and healing! 

May all be blessed in God's healing love.

Light Beam Of Love

Today, I hold a healing space of God's love and compassion for all homeless or stray animals and all animals in any type of need.  I invite the animals to join me in this loving, calm space for whatever they need or choose to receive.

God, I open my heart as a vessel of love and compassion.  I ask You to breathe in me and through me, Your love and compassion.  May Your perfect healing energy flow through me, all around me and expand out to wherever it is needed.

God, I see Your Heart as an ever glowing flame of perfect love.

May the light from Your flame of love light my heart.

From Your heart, God in and through my heart, may a beam of  perfect love, glowing in white, golden light, shine forth like a lighthouse in a dark harbor.  All are invited to be blessed with this light beam of love.  All are invited to rest in this perfect, glowing love upon the shore of calm. 

All are loved.  All is well, All will be well.

Cove of Peace

Today,  I hold a healing space in my heart of love and compassion for all wildlife, endangered or threatened species and all animals in any type of need.  I invite the animals into this calm, healing space for whatever they need or choose to receive.  May all animals know they are loved and held in the loving palm of God's hand.

Cove of Peace Meditation

 Become aware of your breath. Notice the flow in and out. Begin to breathe in through your nose and out through your mouth.  Continue for a few minutes until you feel your body beginning to be calm. 

Envision yourself walking near the rocks near the ocean shore.  There is an opening in the rocks. You go into this opening.  The opening leads to a quiet cove.  In this cove the sun is shimmering on the water that gently taps the rocks on shore.  You feel the sun gently warming your face.  The warm sand grounds you in gentle love.  Here in this cove, all is calm.  All is love. You sit on the sand and rest.  Stay here in this gentle, calm space.  Close your eyes.  Feel the cool breeze in your hair.  Smell the salt in the air all around you.  Listen to the gentle voice of the water brushing against the shore.  

Now think of an animal you love or may know.  Invite the animal to sit next to you on the warm sand. Let go of all expectations and allow the animal to choose whether or not to join you.  Sit in this quiet, loving space for as long as you choose. 

When you are ready open your eyes, wiggle your fingers and toes and slowly walk out of the cove into your daily routine.  Carry this calm, loving energy with you throughout your day.

All is well and all will be well.

Love and Gratitude

Today, I hold a healing space of love and compassion, in my heart, for all birds, small animals, marine and freshwater life; for all animals in any type of need. I invite the animals into this healing space for whatever they need or choose to receive.

Love and Gratitude Breathing Exercise

Take 5 deep cleansing breaths, breathing from your hara (about 2 to 3 finger lengths from your navel). Release all tension and stress as you breathe out. 

Begin to breathe normally, becoming aware of your inner breath.  As you breathe in see and feel this breath as God's love for you.

Begin to become aware of your exhale breath.  As you breathe out see and feel this breath as gratitude for all your many blessings. 

Continue breathing slowly in ...Love...out...Gratitude for a few minutes creating a calm space within you.  

Gently hold this calm space and rest in the loving, calm energy.

Invite your animals into this space.  

Rest in this healing and calm for as long as you desire.  

As you come back into your daily routine carry this calm with you.

Penny's Gentle Kiss...Penny's Gentle Heart For PitBulls

Penny was the first pitbull that I met up close.  I had gone to a local shelter to visit with the animals.  There was Sweet Penny.  Her fur was the color of a copper penny. She had no name yet.  I asked to visit with her and was told she had not been evaluated yet.  I put my hand near the kennel cage and she walked right up and kissed the knuckles of my fingers. Immediately, my heart melted!  Her sweet gentle kisses had won me over!  

I went back to the shelter a few days later and Penny was gone.  I asked about her but was not given any information.  I offered prayer, blessings and reiki to her, wherever she was.  From that day forward I made a vow to give gentleness and kindness to all animals, especially pitbulls; in honor of Penny.

I have started an outreach project for pitbull breed dogs.  The mission of the project is to be kind and gentle in any way possible to a pitbull.  If you have spare change and can donate it to a pit bull rescue cause...donate it.  If you can share some time visiting an animal in a shelter and there is a pit bull there, be kind in any way you can.  If you can donate toys, blankets or other items to a shelter or pitbull rescue, I encourage you to give whatever you can.  If you can offer prayer, reiki or a good loving thought please offer it for a pitbull in need.  Mother Theresa once said do the smallest of things with the greatest of love.  All are invited to join in this project for kindness...Penny's Gentle Heart For Pitbulls.  Start wherever you are and make a decision to be kind and gentle to an animal, especially a pitbull.
