Mariana and Nelson

For a litttle over one year I have been feeding the birds every morning. The birds greet me and I say good morning to them. Blue Jays, Crows and Doves are the most frequent visitors to the feeder. I have heard that Doves mate for life. Mariana and Nelson, two of my favorite doves, visit the feeder every day and spend the day nearby in my yard. Sometimes they play together and other times they just sit close to eachother. I sit on the porch and just enjoy their nearby comfort. Sometimes I may hear thunder and I watch to see what Mariana and Nelson are doing. They stay together and when the thunder is really close they fly off together to safety, until after the storm. Once the storm has passed Mariana and Nelson fly back and sit on their favorite perch in my yard.

Whenever I feel overwhelmed or alone, I just have to go outside and look for my two favorite doves. As soon as my eyes see them, I am filled with peace and comfort. They have taught me that God is always nearby. God can speak to us without using words. He can speak through the loving comfort of two precious doves. God bless Mariana and Nelson and all birds. God bless all animals and the gentle messages of God's comfort, peace and love they share with us.

Abigail's Beauty

Last Friday evening my husband and I saw a bird in our yard. At the time we did not know what kind of a bird it was. I called her Abigail. She flew over our yard and flew towards the river. Her eloquant flight was exquisite. Then after a while she came back and perched herself on a rock overlooking what I call my rock garden. Abigail looked around and rested for a while. I could not help noticing her beauty and elegance as she rested. I said a little prayer for her and told her she was always welcome here. Abigail then flew off and continued on her own personal journey. I thanked God for her visit and the blessing of His beauty shared by Abigail.

Saturday morning I contacted a local bird sanctuary and asked what type of a bird Abigail may be. They told me Abigail was probably from my description a Great Blue Heron. She was grayish blue and white with a long exquisite neck and long beak. Her wing span was almost a big as a turkey. Her head was blue with gray streaks blended in with the blue. I then googled "great blue heron" and was able to confirm Abigail is a great blue heron. She is also a great beauty and one of many of God's precious gifts. Thank you, Abigail for your visit. God bless you.

Sir John's Blessing

About a week ago my family and I were blessed with the surprise visit of a bald eagle, Sir John. It was thundering a bit and raining. Sir John perched himself out on a tree in our back yard. The tree is by the Androscoggin River and one of the limbs is leaning low above the river. Sir John rested on this limb for over an hour.

My husband, daughter and I took turns watching him from the window. We wanted to take his picture but we did not want to go outside and disturb him. He just sat and looked around. Maybe he was waiting out the weather. Maybe he was deciding which was the best fish to catch in the river. We really don't know why Sir John made a visit but we certainly were very blessed by his presence. A few minutes before Sir John left a rainbow appeared in the sky! It was almost like Sir John was leaving us a gift before he was on his way. Tears filled my eyes when he left. I am hoping he returns to visit us soon. God bless you, Sir John and thank you for such a beautiful blessing. God bless all eagles and wildlife.

Morning Grace

Many mornings during the week I go up and visit my neighbor. We have a cup of coffee, a small prayer and read a devotional together. She has a big window near the kitchen table where you can look out and see the birds at the feeder. One morning I met Gracie, a hummingbird. She peeked her beak up by the window and stayed for a few minutes. Our eyes met and connected. She began her humming and my heart melted. I told her she was beautiful and I loved her humming. Gracie then flew away as I blew her a kiss and lots of love.

My neighbor told me Gracie comes every morning and greets her. As she peeks her little beak up near the window, my neighbor is reminded that her mother, now in heaven, is still with her. My neighbor's mother used to have several hummingbirds visit every year. Hummingbirds were her mother's favorite birds.

I thought about how God always finds little ways to help us remember we are never alone and we are deeply loved. Thank you and God bless you, Gracie.

God bless all animals.

Freddie, Felicity and Francine's Water Dance

As I said earlier today, the rain keeps on coming. The sun peeped out for a tiny bit but it is still raining lightly. Just before I got supper I looked out the kitchen door, waiting for my husband and there in the rain made pond in the drive way was Freddie, Felicity and Francine Finch. All 3 yellow finches began their water dances. They performed flapping their wings and hopping up and down. One would jump out and dry for a minute and then another. Then the first one would jump back in. This went on for nearly twenty minutes. I completely enjoyed myself watching their performance.

As my husband was pulling in they flew out of the rain pond and on to the grass. I thanked them for such a lovely performance and said goodbye. I blew them a kiss and sent them my prayers and love. I am looking forward to another show really soon. There is nothing like a water dance by 3 exquisite yellow beauties to make you smile on a rainy day. God bless Freddie, Felicity and Francine. Thank you for such a beautiful show and for giving me such a big smile!

Pollina's Rainy Day Blessing

It is raining again! For some reason my little dog, Kiely does not like to go out in heavy rain. I knew she had to go out and decided I would take her for a little ride. We went down to the boat ramp a little ways down the dirt road from my yard. As we pulled in I noticed no cars were there. I decided to park by the boat entrance. As I slowly drove to the parking place I noticed Pollina, a snapping turtle sitting in the sand, well mud. Pollina was bigger than Shona, another snappig turtle that visited my yard, recently. I gently drove by Pollina and quietly took Kiely out of the car. Kiely did not seem to notice Pollina. Pollina did not seem frightened as she still had her head out of her shell. Kiely and I walked around and Kiely did her dog business. Of course, we both got soaked. It was time to go, as I was leaving I gently spoke to Pollina and told her I would pray for her and the eggs she was evidently about to lay. Kiely and I went home and got dry.

A few hours later again Kiely was acting like she needed to go out. Again, we went in the car to the boat ramp. Pollina was in the same spot she was in earlier. She was laying her eggs. As I drove by her I glanced and both of our eyes met. I gently told her I was praying and I would watch over her eggs. I was relieved she found a cozy place out of the way of traffic. Kiely and I walked around away from Pollina. When it was time to go I put Kiely in the car and told Pollina that I would be thinking of her. I blew her a kiss and got in the car. While driving back home I thought about the blessing Pollina gave me on such a rainy and kind of dreary day. I decided to stop complaining about the rain and think about the beauty and precious gifts of nature all around me. Thank you, Pollina for your rainy day blessing. Angels are with you and will keep you safe. Your eggs will be guarded by angels and blessed by God. God bless you, Pollina.

Sir Winston's Surprise Visit

Yesterday afternoon I was washing the dishes and happened to look out the kitchen window. In our yard we have three apple trees, one pear tree, several birch trees and many more. As I glanced out the window I spotted a surprise visitor, Sir Winston, Buck. First I thought he was a huge dog. Sir Winston was nibbling on the apple buds that just flowered into tiny little apple bits. His horns were not yet horns but I knew by instinct he was a buck and very masculine. He turned and glanced at me, as if to say, "Just helping myself and I'll be on my way". Sir Winston finished his apple bits and turned towards me and said goodbye. He shook his head and shook his white tail. He then walked over to the man made pond and took a drink. From the pond Sir Winston Buck was on his way to his next adventure.

I was so very blessed to have Sir Winston surprise me with a visit. Earlier that day I had been grumbling at how many tasks I needed to complete. I felt frustrated and aggravated at the day in general. Sir Winston Buck made me smile and brought me back to all the beauty I have right in front of me. Thank you, Sir Winston and God bless you. God bless all deer.

Brown Eyed Susie

Susie, a young white tailed doe, came to visit over the weekend. I was out in the yard with my husband around supper time. We were checking on Shona, a snapping turtles's eggs. Susie stood on the lawn and just stared at my husband and me. I said a prayer for her and told her quietly we meant her no harm. Susie was close enough so that we could see her precious brown eyes. She stayed in one spot for about 5 minutes or so. I was suprised she stayed so long after spotting us. Then it was time for her to go. I prayed for her and blew her a kiss. I told her she was welcome at anytime.

The next day I went to the vegtable garden. I noticed deer foot prints. I smiled and said ok Susie I know you were here. I told her she was welcome to the green beans when they flower but asked her to not eat the pumpkin. I felt very blessed to have such a sweet visit from such a beautiful brown eyed Susie. God bless Susie and all deer.

Shona

About a week ago Shona, a snapping turtle, came to visit. I first noticed her in the driveway in the warm sand. She stayed there for a while and then she went out into the dirt road. I noticed the school bus was coming down the road. I quickly, slowed down the bus and waited for Shona to go back into our yard. Shona went back into our yard and found a spot under a birch tree in the sand, at the edge of the driveway. She stayed there for about 5 or 6 hours. I went out once and told her I would pray for her. I knew she was about to lay her eggs. She had dug a hole and was sitting in the hole.

That evening I went out to check on Shona. She had left and the hole was now covered up with dirt and sand. Shona had laid her eggs. Immediately, I said a prayer for her and told her I would watch over her eggs and pray for her babies. I am not sure how long it takes for the eggs to hatch. I pray for them everyday. God bless Shona, her babies and all turtles.

Abby's Gentle Nudge

I met Abby a few weeks ago in the parking lot of the supermarket where I shop. She was getting ready for a day event with her owner and several other horses and owners. Abby, is a deep brown Morgan breed. Her eyes would melt anyone's heart. I started to pet her and tell her how beautiful she is. She kept looking at me with those beautiful brown eyes. It was almost like we knew eachother forever. All of a sudden she nudged me and laid her head on my chest. I kept gently petting her and telling her she was beautiful. She then reached up and kissed my face. I was completely filled with peace. When it was time to leave I said goodbye and she got a little anxious and began walking around in circles. I told her I hope to see her soon and she will always be in my prayers. Once again she nudged me and laid her head on my chest. I gently said goodbye while petting her. I reached down and kissed the top of her nose. Then she reached up and kissed my face goodbye. Tears filled my eyes and I felt like a blanket of warmth and peace was being wrapped around me. I was so blessed to have received such precious gifts. I will always remember the gentle nudge of Abby and the overwhelming peace and love she gave me that day. God bless Abby.

Thank you to my winged friends

I thank you, my precious winged friends... chickadees, blue jays, crows, red winged black birds, cow birds, morning doves and many more. Emmaline

My 49th birthday was back on December 27th, 2008. I woke up feeling a little gloomy and kind of homesick for my family back in Massachusetts. I poured some coffee and sat down to check my e mail on the computer. The computer is located in my daughter's room with a window viewing a huge tree on the land next door.

I looked up at the sky and at the tree. In the tree I noticed one huge crow. She seemed to look down at me as if she was trying to tell me something. I just kept typing and glancing up at the tree. The crow stayed in the same place the whole time I was on the computer. She kept looking down at me. I felt so blessed and felt like God was watching over me.

Later that day I got a sad phone call that a very dear friend of mine was in the hospital back in Boston in critical condition. I kept thinking about that one crow that was sitting above me in the tree the whole time I was on the computer. Every time I thought about the crow I was filled with God's comfort and peace.

A few days later on December 31, 2008, my dear friend Alison passed away. At first I was shocked and broke down and cried. But then I thought about Emmaline the crow sitting with me and I felt comfort and peace once again. Life is full of changes. Sometimes change can hurt. I felt so blessed to have been able to spend all the wonderful times with Alison. I also felt so blessed to have gotten a peaceful gift of comfort from a crow, letting me know that I am never alone. God is with me. Thank you, Emmaline for sharing God's comfort and love with me.

I am now getting ready to plant a garden of sunflowers for Alison and for Emmaline. Each time I look at the sunflowers growing I will think of Alison's friendship and the comfort I got that lonely day from Emmaline.

Jeremy

My husband and I took a walk after Thanksgiving dinner with Miss Kiely. The sun was shining and about 50 degrees outside. I was feeling kind of anxious because I was dreading the start of winter. I said a little prayer and continued walking.

All of a sudden I spotted a precious little chipmunk basking in the sun on a rock. I stopped and watched him. He turned and looked at me. His brown eyes melted my heart. It was almost as if he told me not to worry and that the winter would be over before I knew it. I was immediately filled with God's peace.

Well now today is April 1st and winter is over. Thank you, Jeremy, my precious little friend. You were right. It went fast. Thank you for your gift of God's comfort. God bless you.
